Yuko's room is compact, neat and clean with air conditioning, a fan, TV and no street noise. Everything is supplied from towels to toothbrush along with extras as well... creams, hand sanitizer, washing powder to name just a few... Also plenty of bottled water which is kept in a separate fridge solely for your use. Although you are sharing their bathroom and kitchen, your privacy is respected at all times.Your own set of keys to come and go as you please. It's very central just 10 mins walk from Central Park, 10 mins from 42nd street, 5 mins from subway and buses. My stay was very comfortable and would highly recommend as a solo traveller. At 50 years old, while on vacation and behaving completely respectfully, I had to constantly endure orders like: don't drink, don't tell anyone where you are, don't bring anyone to the room, etc. (when I never broke any rules, did any of that, or made noise or disturbed anyone). This caused me anxiety and a feeling of insecurity that made me leave the room a day early, although after 7 days, I already wanted to leave at least 3 days in. I felt a lack of respect and distrust that I have never experienced in any other BnB accommodation. The accommodation is as described, a room only to rest if you are out all day. The bathroom, hallway, and kitchen (in the hallway) are also very small, although the space is well utilized.

There's so much to say about my 7-day stay with Val & Yuko, but to summarise it all, I really can't believe my luck in finding this place. As hosts they were excellent and attended to all of my needs, when I arrived I was shown around by Val and given everything I could have needed, toiletries, fresh bedding, towels, even snacks! I was given my own fridge space and my own cupboard of dishes, far more than I needed for such a short trip.Val & Yuko are superb hosts, extremely friendly but also left me completely independent, I hardly bumped into them as I was in and out the apartment in the mornings. They were very flexible and let me defer the last day of my stay to after a short trip to Florida, which is not a luxury many other hosts would allow. On top of that, Times Square is only a couple of blocks away and the Public Library/Empire State Building are a 15 minute walk. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for the solo traveller or couple who don't mind a single bed.

It was my 1st time in NYC and I stayed one week in Val & Yuko's room and had a great time. The room was exactly as shown and described. Many useful things were provided in the room! It was warm and clean. The communication with Val & Yuko was easy and they provided all the details before check-in, so the appartment was easy to find. Val & Yuko were very friendly and welcoming during my stay. They provided water, coffee and tea and Yuko even bought hot chocolate in addition. I regret that I did not have more time to talk to Val & Yuko because I spent most of the days sight-seeing. The location and the neighbourhood were perfect for me. I felt safe and Broadway theaters, Times Square, Rockefeller Center and also Circle Line Cruise and Intrepid Museum were easy to reach by foot. Subway and bus stops were also close. I recommend (as did Val & Yuko) the Amish Market on 9th Avenue for their cold and warm food buffet. I would definitively come back to stay at Val & Yuko's place anytime!

They left shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for me in the bathroom, made me dinner on several occasions, left me notes, and Yuko even gave me a parting gift. Very respectful hosts. The apartment is small, but Val and Yuko kept to themselves and gave me plenty of room and privacy to cook and do whatever I needed. The room is also small, but perfect for anyone traveling alone and in need of a quick or long term place to stay that's quiet and has a great location. I was traveling to New York for work and needed somewhere to stay for several weeks. The room was well stocked and had everything I needed, with lots of new cosmetics, bathroom essentials, clean bedding, towels, and plenty of space and shelves to hang clothes and store items. I have sleep problems, and I'm highly sensitive to noise. I visit NYC at least once a year to visit friends and family. This is the best sleep I've ever had at an Bnb in NYC! Super quiet, a very comfortable bed, and good AC. I'll never stay anywhere else in NYC ever again. Pros: good deal for your money if you need a few hours of sleep and need to leave. Thats about it. My wife had a reservation for 5 days. Ended up checking out after just one. She did not feel comfortable staying the rest of the trip and I reserved a hotel instead. Quite a few things that did not work out. The host had a long list of rules which were a bit unreasonable. Eg. no footwear allowed inside the house- meaning you cannot even carry your shoes in a bag to the room. You have to leave them outside the apartment anytime. Eg 2. Wipedown the bathtub once done showering - really? Eg 3. This one was the worst. The host did not take too kindly to my wife leaving the ac on while she went downstairs to grab a sandwich. And when she returned, said i will come to your room and check tomorrow myself to make sure you turn it off. And the bedroom doesn’t have a lock either. So yeah, like i mentioned before, go here if you just need a few hours of sleep and are out.
